As of today, the Pottermore staff has released a survey that is to be taken by the Beta testers so that they may receive feedback on how everything is going.

It is encouraged that you all take the survey to aide them in their search to make Pottermore the best it can be for other users who are later to join. If you have brutal comments, make them at the very end when you are given the option-but keep in mind that you should not sound completely rude.

Remember, they have given us Pottermore, and it was a gift. We should respect their hard work and effort no matter the situation or case.

Recently, I have been asked about adding the proper amount of ingredients with liquids such as Lethe River Water, Flobberworm Mucus, and like items. So, in this post I will address several issues pertaining to ingredients and how to make sure your issues are resolved!

My Flobberworm Mucus count is acting up!

• This has been the case for a lot of users recently, including myself. As you will notice, sometimes 4 drops of Flobberworm Mucus will only give you a count of 2. It is believed that the issue here lies with the angle at which you drop the Mucus. If you tilt it directly vertical, one large blob will give you a count of 2. However, the best approach to adding Flobberworm Mucus is to slightly tilt it over the brim of the cauldron and add a bit at a time. While this make take a little bit longer, the count will be precise and on time. Please take note that these are simply recommendations that should help you become a better potion maker. 
• This portion of the post is also important for any sort of liquid item that is being added into the cauldron as the format is all the same.

There are a few glitches, because potions are…

Well, there have been a number of potion errors over the last few weeks, but a newly occurring problem is that the potion does not count how many of an item you have added.

One of my followers reports that when he adds an item to the mortar, sometimes it will not count, and so he adds another but when he does it skips up 2 as if the previous one had been added.

• If you are struggling with this error, the only recommendation is that you refresh the page, log out and sign back in, or even restart the browser before you continue on and keep losing more ingredients. I understand the frustration at this part, but hopefully Pottermore catches on to it and fixes it quickly. If the problem persists, feel free to switch browsers (Firefox and Chrome are recommended).

Sometimes not all of my ingredients are being counted..HELP

• I would be delighted to help with this. So, let me offer up a few solutions to this problem.

1. Make sure to put your ingredient over the desired location (mortar or cauldron) completely and as close to the brim as you can. The reason for this is because often, half of the ingredient will fall in various directions if dropped from an up-high position. This can also be why you get the “This potion failed to brew because the _______________ was added to the wrong container” message.
2. It has been reported that if you drag your mouse too far to the left of the screen when trying to add stuff to the mortar, the number count will go all out of wack, so be careful when you are using the mouse.

Perfecting the Sleeping Draught (Part 1)

• Place the four lavender sprigs in the mortar. Be very careful at this stage, make sure that each quill is either touching the mortar itself or is faced away from the cauldron. The reason for this is because little specs can fly into the cauldron and give you the “You failed to brew this potion because the lavender was added to the wrong container” message.

• Place the 2 Standard Ingredients to the mortar. Before you start to mash them into the creamy paste, make sure the second standard ingredient has been counted (this will be shown with the “2” on the left side of the mortar). If you click to crush before it has been counted you will get the “You failed to brew this potion because the right amount of Standard Ingredient was not added” message. 

• Crush the items in the mortar into a creamy paste. To save a few seconds, only go until the crushed-o-meter is halfway through the ‘green section’.

• Add the 2 Flobberworm Mucus to the cauldron, but be careful here as well. Like with the Standard Ingredient and the mortar, you must make sure the cauldron counts how many Flobberworm Mucus has been added before you move on. Sometimes it will seem like you have added more than 2, but 2 on their count is 2 nontheless. 

• Add 2 Standard Ingredients to the cauldron, and make sure it has been counted before you start to heat, or you will get similar error messages as stated above. 

• Turn on the flame until it is in the middle of the ‘green section’ then hit the orange button (reduces the flame strength), this will help you monitor it easier because for some people the flame will go down and not up. 

• Add 3 counts of the mixed power/creamy paste from the mortar into the cauldron WHILE THE FLAME IS STILL ON.

• Turn off the heat, making sure that the thermometer bar is still green. If it is red, simply press the back button because if you wave your wand once it is red-the cauldron will explode. 

• Wave your wand! The first step of the potion is complete. 

Perfecting the Sleeping Draught (Part 2)

• Add 2 Standard Ingredient to the cauldron, being cautious that the count is showing up before moving on to the next step. 

• Turn on the heat, bringing it once again to the middle of the ‘green section’, because as some have found; at this step the heat constantly seems to fall rather than rise. So it is better to be in the middle than at the bottom which would cause the potion to fail at the second stage. 

• While the heat is on, and preferably in the middle of the ‘green section’, add the 4 Valerian Sprigs to the cauldron, being cautious still of the temperature of the flame. 

• Stir 7 times to the right or ‘clockwise’. This is the most important step in the potion because although you may have stirred 7 times, the cauldron count might not change. Continue to stir to the right until it shows a “7” to the right of the cauldron. If you do not see an arrow with a number by it, that means the stir count has not changed. 

• Turn off the heat, making sure it has not dipped down into the red, or gone above the ‘green section’ (either one of which will result in the losing of 5 house points- it would be better if you failed, regardless of how sad it may be, to simply press back at this point as to avoid any point loss). 

• Wave your wand! You have just earned 11 points for Ravenclaw-Congratulations!

*Note- The Ingredient Counter position may change depending on your cauldron
